Acoustic Fabric Comparison
Choosing fabric for an acoustic panels or speaker covers? SoundAssured offers three polyester acoustic fabrics: Standard, TruWeave and Dual Layer.

Quick choice: choose Standard for the lightest fabric, TruWeave for a single-layer woven finish or Dual Layer when you prefer a firmer fabric with a thin felt backing. Order fabric swatches to compare the colors and feel before buying yardage.
Compare the three fabrics
GSM means grams per square meter. It describes fabric weight per area. A lighter fabric does not automatically provide better acoustic transparency.
What the acoustic tests show
Riverbank Acoustical Laboratories tested these fabrics over a 2-inch fiberglass core with a density of about 6 pounds per cubic foot. The uncovered core and the tested fabric-covered assemblies each had an NRC of 1.05. View the test reports and explanation.
That result means the fabrics did not reduce the reported NRC in those tests. The core provides the main absorption in a fabric-wrapped panel, and the sound passes through the fabric.
Pre-cut pieces or continuous fabric
All three fabrics offer 59-inch-wide rolls. Select pre-cut pieces for separate 59 by 36-inch cuts. Select continuous fabric when you need a longer piece which is sold by the yard. Check the cutting style before adding your quantity.
Measure the outside of the frame, its depth and the fabric needed to fasten at the back. Do not plan on stretching the fabric to make a small cut fit. Use our fabric calculator to help plan the layout.
